Biography

Pari Hastaie was born in Isfahan an ancient city in central Iran. She went to junior and high school in Khorramshahr in the southern province of Khouzestan and went to Medical school in Ahwaz and Tehran. She began painting in high school and was soon recognised to be a very talented artist. However over the next few years she concentrated mostly on her medical career and her art work became a refuge to escape from the very busy life she used to lead as a working mother of three boys. She used every opportunity to draw subjects of her interest mainly people and landscape. Her patients became her source of inspiration. Especially that she mostly worked in poorer parts of the capital Tehran during her 30 years of medical career ending it in a TB hospital in the mountainous village of Darabad. She painted portraits of Migrant workers, pregnant women from provinces and innocent looking children on the back of patient's notes. More recently, her motifs are persian and Islamic builds which spread across central Iran in cities and villages such as Kashan, Kerman and Isfahan.
